Research interest

Siriraj Heath Study (SIH) is a population-based study funded by faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University through September 2017. It concentrates on non-communicable diseases (NCD) in Bangkoknoi district, Bangkok, with a catchment population of 150,000 residents.
As I mention earlier, another population group of Bangkoknoi project is workforce within faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital. More than 15 thousand people work in the faculty, the initial phase (funded during Sep 2017 - Dec 2019) started in the Siriraj sub-district, with the first 4,518 recruited participants (>18 years). And then, the second phase (funded during Jan 2020 - April 2022) had 493 recruited participants (>18 years) with annual routine healthcare follow up with the distributed healthcare system. The preliminary data analyses are planned in late 2021 to explore general demographic data related to NCD risk factors to understand the variability in diverse lifestyle patterns for the development of seamless behavioral modifications and precision medicine. To gain more understanding about health in urban communities with large ageing populations, concerted engagement of communities and stakeholders in research is indispensable for fostering trust, building the capacity for research, and improving health outcomes while reducing health disparities and inequities.
Therefore, this project planning is expanding this cohort to the directly relative of personnel and surrounding Siriraj communities, an ideal setting to extend its population cohort for general urban population with broader health impacts including microbial resistance, environmental changes, will help us to understand the above mentioned Health outcomes, social determinant of health and NCD risk factors will be assessed with strong determination for research collaboration and utilization.
