ได้รับการรับฟัง (To be heard) เปิดตัวโครงการ SUNWAI เชื่อมโยงเครือข่าย 4 ประเทศ สู่การพัฒนาระบบสุขภาพที่ยั่งยืน
เมื่อวันที่ 12 พฤษภาคม 2569 หน่วยวิจัยเพื่อขับเคลื่อนนโยบายสุขภาพ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ได้จัดงานเปิดตัวโครงการวิจัย SUNWAI ประเทศไทย อย่างเป็นทางการ
โครงการวิจัย SUNWAI มีชื่อเต็มว่า Social Participation for Universal Health Coverage: Evidence-informed NetWorks Advancing Inclusion โดยคำว่า “Sunwai” ในภาษาฮินดี ยังมีความหมายว่า “การได้รับการรับฟัง” (to be heard) ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงหัวใจสำคัญของโครงการในการส่งเสริมการมีส่วนร่วมทางสังคมอย่างมีความหมาย เพื่อขับเคลื่อนระบบสุขภาพที่ครอบคลุม เป็นธรรม และรับฟังเสียงของทุกภาคส่วน
โครงการวิจัย SUNWAI มุ่งศึกษาและส่งเสริมกระบวนการการมีส่วนร่วมทางสังคม (Social Participation) ในการพัฒนานโยบายและระบบหลักประกันสุขภาพถ้วนหน้า (Universal Health Coverage: UHC) และเป็นโครงการวิจัยระดับนานาชาติที่มีความร่วมมือระหว่าง 4 ประเทศ ได้แก่ สหราชอาณาจักร อินเดีย เวียดนาม และประเทศไทย โดยได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจาก National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), สหราชอาณาจักร
สำหรับประเทศไทย โครงการวิจัย SUNWAI ดำเนินงานโดยหน่วยวิจัยเพื่อขับเคลื่อนนโยบายสุขภาพ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ร่วมกับภาคีหลัก ได้แก่ สถาบันเพื่อการวิจัยและนวัตกรรมด้านเอชไอวี (IHRI) โดยมี รศ.พญ.วราลักษณ์ ศีรนนท์ประเสริฐ หัวหน้าหน่วยวิจัยเพื่อขับเคลื่อนนโยบายสุขภาพ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล เป็นที่ปรึกษาโครงการ และมีผู้วิจัยหลัก ได้แก่ ภกญ.ดร.พัทธรา ลีฬหวรงค์ จากหน่วยวิจัยเพื่อขับเคลื่อนนโยบายสุขภาพ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และ ผศ.ดร.ธีรพัฒน์ อังศุชวาล จากคณะสังคมศาสตร์และมนุษยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล พร้อมด้วย คุณกฤติมา สมิทธิ์พล จากหน่วยวิจัยเพื่อขับเคลื่อนนโยบายสุขภาพ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล เป็นผู้จัดการโครงการประเทศไทย
งานเปิดตัวโครงการในครั้งนี้ได้รับเกียรติจากผู้แทนจากหน่วยงานภาครัฐ ภาควิชาการ ภาคประชาสังคม ภาคบริการสุขภาพ และภาคีเครือข่ายจากหลากหลายภาคส่วน เข้าร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็น ข้อเสนอแนะ และมุมมองที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อการดำเนินโครงการในประเทศไทย

Empowering Voices for Equity: Launching the SUNWAI Project, a Global Collaboration for Sustainable Health Systems
On 12 May 2026, Siriraj Health Policy, Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, officially launched the SUNWAI Thailand Research Project.
SUNWAI stands for Social Participation for Universal Health Coverage: Evidence-informed NetWorks Advancing Inclusion. Interestingly, the word “Sunwai” in Hindi also means “to be heard,” reflecting the project’s core commitment to promoting meaningful social participation to advance health systems that are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the voices of all sectors of society.
The SUNWAI Research Project focuses on studying and strengthening social participation processes in the development of health policy and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) systems. It is an international collaborative research initiative involving four countries — the United Kingdom, India, Vietnam, and Thailand — funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), United Kingdom.
In Thailand, the SUNWAI Research Project is implemented by Siriraj Health Policy, Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, in collaboration with key partner organisations, including the Institute of HIV Research and Innovation (IHRI).
The Co-Principal Investigators of the project are Dr. Pattara Leelahavarong from Siriraj Health Policy, Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Assistant Professor Dr. Theerapat Ungsuchaval from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahidol University, with Associate Professor Dr. Varalak Srisunnonprasert, Head of Siriraj Health Policy, serving as Project Advisor. Ms. Kritima Samitpol from Siriraj Health Policy, Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, serves as the Thailand Country Manager for the project.
The launch event was honoured by the participation of representatives from government agencies, academia, civil society organisations, healthcare sectors, and partner networks from across diverse sectors, who joined to exchange valuable perspectives, recommendations, and insights for the implementation of the project in Thailand.
