Rational and Background
Research and development of health interventions to diagnose, treat and prevent diseases usually take more than a decade. One of the factors for taking so long is a lead time for collecting the tissues and bio-fluids from the patients with target conditions in order to use them for in vitro testing of new compounds before entering clinical studies.
Siriraj Hospital has been providing healthcare for more than one million patients annually. The patients attending Siriraj Hospital are from all parts of Thailand with a wide variety of diseases. The leftover tissues and bio-fluids from the patients who receive regular healthcare at Siriraj Hospital are discarded. Therefore, this is an opportunity for Siriraj Hospital to create a tissue and bio-fluid repository for research.
Even though many departments in Siriraj Hospital were collected tissue and Bio-fluid for clinical and research but the system not complete, especially clinical data, method or not enough. |
