Siriraj has an organ transplantation service and receives donations of organs such as kidney, liver, heart, lung, pancreas, retina and bone marrow.

1. Kidney
1. Type of kidney transplantation
1.1 Kidney from a living donor: the donor must be related by blood such as father or mother, son or daughter, brother or sister from the same father or mother which can be proven by laboratory examination or he can be an in-law, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece or first cousin Husband and wife must have been married at least three years on the day of the kidney transplantation unless they can prove to have children together. The donor has to be willing to donate without receiving any direct or indirect payment or benefits.
1.2 Kidney from the deceased : organized by the center for organ donation of the Thai Red Cross along the following criteria:
• The result of tissue tests
• Compatibility of organs
• The time the patient has already been waiting for a kidney
• Age (children under 15 years of age will have priority)
2. Comparison between kidney transplantation, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
2.1 Kidney transplantation
• Better quality of life or close to a normal life
• No time is needed for hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
• Kidney function is closer to normal than can be achieved through dialysis or peritoneal dialysis
• Avoiding the complications of dialysis or peritoneal dialysis
• Raised risk of infection due to intake of immunosuppressive drugs
• Very expensive operation

• Cost for the single dialysis is not high
• Very time-consuming
2.3 Peritoneal Dialysis
• Can be done by yourself at home
• Ost for the single dialysis is not high
• Risk of infection
