| Welcome to the Graduate Study at Siriraj
The Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University , offers seven Ph.D. and fourteen M.Sc. programs in various areas of biomedical research, including four that are international programs. There are altogether over 150 faculty members and some 422 graduate students ( 30 are Ph.D.-M.D. students) working in areas ranging from basic science to clinically oriented research. Ongoing projects often blend and/or bridge the two extremes of the research continuum, with a common goal of improving health care through scientific discoveries. Students benefit from the close scientist-clinician interactions, as well as the rich variety of materials provided by one of the best and largest university-hospitals in the region.
The graduate training ground is integrated within the 28-acre (or 70-rai) Siriraj Hospital complex, situated on the west bank of the majestic Chao Phraya River . The enclosed area provides proximity between preclinical and clinical departments, which facilitates research cooperation and sometimes even integration. As the oldest hospital and medical school in Thailand , Siriraj is a seamless cross between rich heritage and technologically advanced services/research, fostering a tradition of excellence in all of its members. This tradition is no doubt shared among Siriraj graduate students as they pursue their scientific quests. The projected expansion of the complex to incorporate additional 12 acres of land (about 30 rai) to the north is a recent development guaranteed to help strengthen the Graduate Study at Siriraj, as it continues to grow at a rapid pace.
